WA Museum Boola Bardip - Pilbara Rock Wall and Termite Mound
Project Overview:
Sublime Stone Solutions was engaged by CDM Studio to create a Kimberly-themed rock wall and termite mound for an exhibit at the Western Australian Museum. This exhibit would serve as a striking backdrop for large insect models and artwork.
CDM Studio first constructed a detailed replica of the exhibit in a purpose-built offsite studio, separate from the Museum. A sacrificial wood structure was created, into which foam was inserted and roughly shaped to form the basic structure.
Sublime Stone Solutions was then tasked with sculpting the final rock wall to reflect the rugged, natural beauty of the Kimberly region. The design needed to be both transportable and easily assembled at the museum. Once completed, the rock wall was carefully disassembled and moved to the WA Museum for installation.
